Shire Woodworking Club – December 2017 Newsletter posted below. Mostly about the Christmas donations and special Santa’s Post Box. Total toy donations of 1471 for year is impressive; some of these were my trucks! I didn’t make the show and tell this month as I was unable to attend the November maxi day as I was in New Zealand
Shire Woodworking Club – November 2017 Newsletter posted below. Good pictures from the Gymea Village Spring Fair; great to see that this was the most successful in the clubs history. Photos of the plank competition winners; not a great one of me! Another photo of me with two of my pens at the show and tell. Next years maxi day program looks ok, very difficult to confirm in advance. Good to experience different scroll […]
I was lucky to be in Invercargill to see an exhibition by the Southland Woodworkers Guild recently. I know a couple of the members but have never managed to get to any of their meetings or seen any of their displays. Very impressed by the quality and variety of goods on display. Some were available for sale as marked but others only for display purposes. Good mix of woodturning and woodworking.

Shire Woodworking Club – October 2017 Newsletter posted below. Ray was the next youngest member when I joined so I knew him quite well as he was only a few years older than me. His brain tumour operation a couple of years ago […]
Current Cubby House Turners Woodies club newsletter below; it is a bit light this month! Interesting article about a visit to a local school Some good looking turnings for show and tell items but unfortunately no general woodwork items; for most members it is still a woodturning club.
Plank Competition I have spent a lot of my time on my Shire Woodworking Club plank entry; but did manage to finish it on time. See separate post regarding the making of the train set below: Pen Sales Sold a pen out on eBay out of the blue; I had forgot that I had posted pens for sale here and had a moment of panic that I had already sold or given away the […]
This was my entry in the 2017 Shire Woodworking Club pine plank competition: We received a dressed radiata pine plank (approximately 1500mm x 290mm x 19mm or equivalent). The main rule is: There is no restriction on the number, size, type and design of the entry providing it is used to make one or more toys for the Club. It is to be made predominantly from the timber supplied. Quite a while ago I had bought […]
