Southland Woodworkers Guild Exhibition in Invercargill

Southland Woodworkers Guild Exhibition in Invercargill

I was lucky to be in Invercargill to see an exhibition by the Southland Woodworkers Guild recently. I know a couple of the members but have never managed to get to any of their meetings or seen any of their displays. Very impressed by the quality and variety of goods on display. Some were available for sale as marked but others only for display purposes. Good mix of woodturning and woodworking.

I also provided him with various backgrounds as shown in the photos of keyrings, these are lining I have used for boxes. Since it was set up I…

Workshop Update – just two pieces of wood!

Finished one set of cuff links; or just two pieces of wood as my wife’s nephew Dylan remarked after I posted them on Instagram.   Will complete some more with burls that I am in the process of sanding but wanted to see how one looked when completed. I need to get working on my Shire Woodworking plank competition entry due later this year – I managed to pickup the pine plank (1500mm x 290mm x 19mm) last month    …

Workshop update for Easter projects and to date!

Workshop update for Easter projects and to date!

Some old and new projects completed over the Easter break and last weekend.  Finally finished updating my wife’s file storage cabinet. As shown below this is part of a built in wardrobe that she uses for storing cardboard files The main problem with this is that they fall over and are hard to get to at the back. She has tried stands to separate the files but with limited success. I suggested using additional drawers with a gap so the…

Why Hugo’s Woodshop?

All decent options with Gary were taken by websites so I had to look for something else! Hugo is our 3 year old Ragdoll cat who is very nosy and likes investigating the garage / workshop:
